Case Study: W&S case study

A company with six separate warehouse locations was experiencing low productivity from the warehouse staff, which resulted in low work appreciation, which led in turn to high levels of staff turnover.

Skills Ladder was able to design and deliver a recruitment and training programme that:

 

  • Focussed recruitment only on those who wanted to obtain real workplace skills
  • Ensured candidates had  proven their basic literacy and numeracy skills before employment
  • Ensured that candidates only entered their employment, with this company, fully prepared to be instructed and assessed in on-the-job training

 

The result has been a whole new workplace culture, with lower levels of staff turnover – all managed by Skills Ladder with funding from the Gov Apprenticeship Service.

 

On completion of their vocational training in Storage and Warehousing, many staff volunteered for Fork Lift Truck driver training – also delivered by Skills Ladder, and at times to suit the employer’s work schedules.
