Case Study: Core IT training for a Europe and UK-wide public transport provider's service delivery staff

Core IT training for a Europe and UK-wide public transport provider's service delivery staff

Service delivery staff at a pubic transport provider's depot in London were in need of core IT training to support them in their role and improve their performance. The depot is one of six within the company's Greater London operation, which in total employs over 2000 people.

Our solution

After discussing requirements with the service delivery manager and highlighting best-fit opportunities for IT use by staff, we devised a training programme leading to a nationally recognised ITQ vocational qualification.

The programme was designed to reflect the needs of individual learners and the company, with the overall aim of building staff confidence in using IT, supporting their continuing professional development and improving workplace productivity. We also gave trainees the opportunity to request the training modules that they needed, such as for email, data management, spreadsheets and presentations.

Every learner was assigned a trainer, who provided personal support and encouragement throughout the programme, assessed their development and guided them through the qualification.

Outcomes

Following the success of the training programme and the high numbers that achieved the qualification, it was rolled out to the other depots where there were equally high achievement rates.
